Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

Human Resources Administration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations and HR matters.
  • Support managers with performance concerns, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Maintain employee policies, procedures, and handbook content.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including multi-state requirements.
  • Manage personnel records and HR documentation.

Payroll & HRIS Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely.
  • Maintain employee data in HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Coordinate payroll changes, employee status updates, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with implementation and optimization of HR technology platforms.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruiting efforts for office, warehouse, and merchandising personnel.
  • Manage onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to support workforce planning and staffing needs.
  • Ensure completion of all new hire documentation and compliance requirements.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefit programs including health insurance and retirement plans.
  • Serve as liaison with external benefits providers.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.
  • Assist employees with benefits inquiries and issue resolution.

Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Develop and implement job descriptions and performance evaluation processes.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability measures with leadership.
  • Support employee development, coaching, retention, and succession initiatives.
  • Assist managers with performance improvement opportunities.

Employee Relations & Office Administration

  • Provide guidance regarding workplace concerns and employee relations matters.
  • Investigate and document employee relations issues as needed.
  • Promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.
  • Support conflict resolution and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Coordinate office operations, vendor relationships, employee events, and general administrative functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Strong knowledge of HR compliance, employment laws, and employee relations practices.
  • Ability to advise managers on performance management and workplace issues.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience in a Generalist role.
  • Experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance initiatives.
  • Experience with Rippling HRIS and Payroll.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification.
  • Experience supporting multi-state employee populations.
  • Experience building HR processes and performance management programs.
  • Experience in distribution, logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, or family-owned business environments.
